Well, I figured I should start a build-up thread of my own... My LSU D-Max has just ticked over 3500km, and the first of my modifications has finally rolled around.

Here's a reminder of what it looked like before I started...

First cab off the rank was a 3.5t towbar and a tub-liner. I chose an aftermarket towbar because of the price and quality, and a Tuf-Dek tub liner because of price and availability.

The latest addition was a colour matched canopy supplied and fitted by Autonexus in Brisbane. It has three lift-up windows, integrated brake light and is rated to hold 100kg on the roof rack (when fitted). Autonexus also supplied and fitted a Safari snorkel, and tinted the windows for me!!

Just so you realize, the canopy roof bars carry weight being 100kg is good, BUT, if using the vehicle on rough, bumpy and offroad conditions the load it can withstand will be much less.

It isn't the load, but the instantaneous load created by the mass/inertia of the carried weight on the canopy.
So 50KG may easily over extend the rating when off road.

When carrying up there, make any hard object so it has a cushion pad underneath, so shock loadings are minimized especially on corrugated road where the rough lasts for a long repetitive time.

It is a great colour, any plans for a bulbar… colour coded perhaps?
I just installed some Ironman4x4 drawers, need to decide where my battery will go too… will watch your build mate!

Even though red is not a favourite of mine, I was at the Sydney Caravan & Camping Expo on Sat, and the colour coded bullbars on the red 4 X 4's was the best IMO

Future plans - UHF, bull-bar, spotlights, drawers, dual battery system, 40mm lift, decent tyres...

Since the purchase wasn't exactly planned (my Patrol went bangety bangety clunk clank), the next few items might take a while to materialise... I'm still trying to work out where I will mount the UHF (without relenting and buying a unit designed to be hidden in the glovebox).

I'm leaning towards the XRox bull-bar for the vastly improved approach angle, but not 100% certain yet. Probably not the ARB one - I don't like how far they stick out. I am contemplating colour coding it, but again, haven't decided.

Oh yeah, I'm also looking to utilise my turbo timer if I can get suitable connections for it...
