The Dmax has low range that is lower, got caught out with that with the Triton so off road 1st low is a bit high for rock work and steep descents on the brakes a lot otherwise went ok off road.
Bash plates are a must as the Triton ones are very thin, will be getting heavier one for the Max as well the 2 inch lift helped the Triton
The Triton suffered from Airbag wiring loom problems which in the end they replace the inside loom so the dash and inside would have had to come out.
Injectors are another problem with them, as is the carbon build up in the inlet manifold they replace manifolds quite a lot around 70000k+ so blanking plates are a must, the turbo had oil blow-by
The 400NM is only there for a short 200-300rpm and drops of rather fast, so off road maintaining around 1800-2000rpm was where it had to be so with the high gearing was to fast for slow work, drop below 1800rpm and it was response less so the clutch coped a hiding
The only thing have really noticed, Triton had a better turning circle and faster turning response ,but that is jumping out of one into the other
The tritons have had a bad run with warranty problems from 2010-2012 you have to find a good dealer to sort them out which is very trying at the best off times, Mitsubishi like to blame every extra you fit non genuine bull bars for over heating is always a good one with them I know personally of 3 tritons having new engines fitted under warrantee for this problem (bad castings off the block) just did not want to chance it as we travel remote a lot
Got a few mates who have Dmax's and have been trouble free liked the flat torque curve of the 3ltr motor with a decent auto to back it up
only waiting to try it out just need the canopy to be fitted and then we are back up a couple hundred K from Karratha

G'day Slug,
Nice looking setup, BUT, that auxiliary battery is a bit exposed and prone to damage! Have you got a good resting place for it?

I hope you have proper trailer wiring and lights to it. A rigid a frame is better cos when you brake the FB may go under the back if only on a string.

Anywhere south of the Tropic of Capricorn at any time of the year is too bloody cold IMO...don't know how you all survive. This pic has a line I prefer not to cross..

Hopefully pulling them out to make some minor mods so they sit 10mm higher under the tray and a mod to the gravity feed connector in to the main tank
get 1500k not towing 850k with the van on the back going Melb to Sydney
Just have to get time to do it I will put the dimensions and pics up
James
The tank worked well on the trip Karratha to Ararat
