Hi all I have an 18 auto dmax and after a week away I’ve come back to drive it and noticed the esc light on and have to use shift lock to get out of park. And when I do that it Clunks into gear real hard. , I’ve checked all the fuses and they seem ok Any ideas

Also just noticed in the dash it’s not showing. What gear it’s in - ie P R N D

If it has only happened after being away, I would suspect there has been an issue of corrosion between an earthing point for the body control unit. If it can't operate correctly it won't show gears or provide shift unlock. Have a really good look at ANY, to body terminations, where negative wires are earthed by a bolt. Undo and clean the area to ensure a good contact. This fault causes many problems with mass produced vehicles. An dealer check might reveal the body control is faulty, but is it really?????????
