Has anybody seen these for the dmax?

I spoke to the mechanic at my local Isuzu dealership.

He said driver side cv is most common problem other then that everything was fine.
He also said the auto hub is really strong and the cv will break everytime instead of hub.

He recommended I put manual lock hubs an take spares because they'll become the weak spot and hubs alot easier to break.

A few people complain about weak cv's but I can't see how tht component can just bust without miss treatment. It's not made of plastic.

So you have fitted after market auto locking hubs to your Dmax? Didn't know you could get them. Who makes them and where are they available from? Thanks

No sorry mate tht standard hub is auto locking ( or 4wd on the fly) mine are standard hubs but there just called auto lock because they do it themselves not like the manual hub where you get out of the car to select " lock " on the hub.

So the dealer mechanic says these standard hubs the dmax comes with are really strong making the cv the weak spot

Ah OK. Either you misunderstood what the mechanic said or the mechanic is a goose. No auto locking hubs on the Isuzu. The front CVs turn with the wheels at ALL times, in or out of 4WD.

Yeh I know.
I was just under the impression that was the name given to these style of hub.

Wonder if the manual hub system would provide better fuel economy with less moving parts etc? Do you know anything bout that? Would you reckon the manual hub is a worth while mod?

Doubt they give better fuel economy. Haven't noticed anything different after fitting mine.

However FWH will reduce wear on your CVs in 2WD.

Yehh considering I'm using my car 80% of the week for work n round town etc the convenience of the hub set up probably isn't worth the wear n tear on the cvs. I can't go bush every weekend so jumping out to engage them once a while isn't goin to hurt.

What brand hubs do you run?
