I saw dannos build thread with the D34; Im thinking of going one in my rig, but Im not so keen on the rooting around he had to do to get it work .

Anyone know of an alternative thats a straight swap job?

The main screw around with mine was the fact that I used a D34/78 with the extra terminals on the side (theses are useless by the way unless you own an early Corvette) which change the shape of the top making the standard clamp useless (see attached pics), however you can get a straight D34 which is the same battery without the side terminals or contouring (standard clamp ok) and the terminals are close enough to the centre that the battery will go in "backwards" with minimal fuss and the terminals will still reach as Optima don't make a left and right hand version.

https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/y ... tery/d3478 in real life the contouring is much bigger than in this computer generated image..

https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/y ... attery/d34 flat top allows for use of standard clamp..

The Optima yellow-top D27F also fit right in too.

Terminals have the same polarity as factory and they are larger than the D34.
