I know that in the 1990s Isuzu ceased production of regular cars [long before Ford had the idea], especially as they were mainly rebadged Honda or Subaru cars, with the exception of the MU [Rodeo/Cameo] and Trooper SUV and D-Max pickup.

Isuzu hasn't rebadged Hondas or Subaru, never seen it in Australia!

G’day Garry
Someone seems quite confused don’t they? Obviously very uninformed, one eyed and not able to see reality, pst or present.

Hey, while I've got my aluminium foil hat on. I always thought 'DuraMax' was designed to intentionally mislead people - looks like the derivation of 'D-Max'. Just one way marketers get to sell stuff - pretend it's something else, use that person's advertising budget & pick up a few crumbs.

Microsoft created 'Office Open' on the coat tails of 'Open Office'. The drug Thorazine sounds like a similar drug Thioridazine, which it isn't. Common but dodgy marketing technique.

Probably two fold hit to sell GM product using the successful Duramax name from USA plus delving into a sound alike of the Dmax. There are people who have heard of Dmax and when they see a GM unit called Duramax they may not click there is a difference and buy it. Marketing people don't have any scruples.

Yes, Subaru and Honda have both sold rebadged Isuzus.

The Duramax engine was a joint venture between GM and Isuzu

Fair enough.
Always amazes me all the re-badging, especially when you go overseas & see all the new names on familiar cars.

Tink.
But, Isuzu hasn't sold rebadged Hondas or Subaru's, which is what the discussion was meaning, not the other way around. A bit Frack to Bunt.
Isuzu and GM might have developed the Duramax V8 engine and it is a successful engine. However, the name DURAMAX, plastered on Colorado utes, meaning their engine is a DURAMAX is totally false and misleading, as the engine has no relationship to GM or Isuzu and definitely nothing like a V8 except it burns diesel. Oh forgot, they both use pistons and a crankshaft, that must be what GM is alluding to. The name certainly sucks in the ones who don't know what is what.
