The passenger side front drive shaft is wobbly going into the front axle case on my 2010 D-Max.
Not sure why yet but need to remove the drive shaft to have a look.
Has anyone experience of removing the drive shaft and then the inner drive shaft?
Could do with an idea of how to go about it.

Thanks
Mike

That CV is bolted to the drive axle leaving the SOTF section of the front axle. SO, are the bolts loose? Is the shaft you are referring to between the inner and outer CV on that side? The drive shaft does float a little within the CV, ie, some end float. The Inner cv may be damaged.
Define wobble a bit more.

I can wobble the inner CV case around a bit, feels like the inner drive splined shaft is wobbling in the long arm of the diff casing. There is a minor oil leak between the inner CV case and the chassis plate that the SOFT is bolted to.

Looks like it has to come apart to find out why. There is a bearing there, it may have failed in the extension section. Not good but investigation needed, definitely.

Yes both inner driveshaft bearings worn badly, water got in somewhere. Dropped the front diff, only problems were a seized bolt in the rubber bush mount holding the diff to the chassis. New bearings and oil seals and replaced the old diff with one from a breakers.

Useful youtube vids for the trooper will give an idea, exactly the same apart from the shift on the fly mechanism.

Note, I removed the upper ball joint by undoing the three bolts holding it. The ball joint is on top of the upper control arm by default on my rodeo.
