I follow the book that came with the car, supplied by Isuzu. But interesting the driver's manual for the last of the Holden Colarado' s recommended using Dexron VI in the manual gearbox. For what its worth, I'm currently in the country house where I keep the Dmax. I had a look in the Haynes manual for their recommended manual transmission oil and it's Dexron VI.

Can you read any fault codes? A sticking or faulty SCV will log rail pressure fault codes.

If you have the 4JJ1 engine you have glow plugs. I'd have a look at them and the starting sequence timing.

Are you waiting long enough for the glow plug light to go out before cranking?

Check with Amsoil in Costa Rica. Amsoil Manual Transmission Fluid 5W-30 is supposed to be equivalent to the Besco oil.

Have a look at your manual, mine says use Besco (5W-30) transaxle oil. I know Besco is hard to find in Australia but I'd use an equivalent transaxle oil, especially if a noise developed after switching to synthetic engine oil like's happened to you. Can't help with the upgrades but 100,000K's is almost new. What chip do you have installed?

I used to get low EGR gas flow codes when I was pulling a boat up a ramp and had an EGR restrictor plate plate fitted but they were easily cancelled by OBD2 Autodoctor and didn't recur until the next time I retrieved the boat. This led me to remove the plate and fit a catch can.
