Re: Head gasket issues 2013 dmax

I think the term is, “should’ve stayed with Toyota”. Should’ve is a shortening of should have! Somehow people say, should of, for some strange reason. Just lazy. Yes, all vehicle makes can blow head gaskets. Is it a big problem with Isuzu? I don’t think so. If you keep buying another brand of vehicl...

Re: Head gasket issues 2013 dmax

Hello Disgruntled. You seem a little uninformed about engines! Perhaps you are the cause of it. If your vehicle has done 70,000km of short runs and cold starts then the total of normal use would be for 350,000 to 400,000 normal starts and running. The aluminium cylinder head is bolted on, but DOES N...

Re: Isuzu DMax MUX body & inner guard crack

Goody I agree a metallurgy issue may be present too. My point is, if the chassis and body are not in passive equilibrium then they are already under stress. That means the weakest bit, the bodywork is stressed because the chassis won't give much. Loosening to find out and appropriately packing the g...

Re: Isuzu DMax MUX body & inner guard crack

ano42553 Way back I mentioned a possible cause and no one has investigated to my knowledge. I consider, IF, that is IF the body mounts are not in pressure/tension equilibrium then they hold the body hard one way from the chassis position. That would mean one side of either the rear or front mounts i...

Re: So what colour coolant should you really have?

You can remove a hose going to the heater, have it on of course and use a garden hose running just fast enough to cause a positive flow to run water through the heater and engine, Remove radiator cap so the thermostat bleed hole allows flushing through there too. Yes dump water out of lower hose, bu...

Re: Disc brake pads

First learn to use your brakes properly and drive wisely . Heating of brakes to the smell degree is foolish and if they fade you will not be able to stop and then you are a statistic. Much can be done if not pushing the envelope to the failure point. Firstly use the auto retardation or manual box to...

Re: isuzu mux 2016 (no DPF) valve adjust

I have done valve clearances on mine twice so far and although I did replace the cam cover gasket it didn't really need to be done. I used a little smear of Loctite 516 red plastic gasket on the mating surfaces and also checked the cam crescent 1/2 moon plugs with it, to make sure they sealed again....

Re: chip or remap.

Jack. While a remap will increase many things, it is what manufacturers do to the NEW model to make more power and torque than the last model. Maybe a few different fuelling characteristics though. The idrive doesn't make it go any faster, all it does is electronically full fuel the system until it ...

Re: Turbo issues DMAX/MUX

CN1980 Does it explain how 3 turbos on the one vehicle failed? and the owner is a mechanic too. Is he claiming Hat Trick status or something? Guinness Record book entry perhaps? Turbos can fail, but 3 on same vehicle means the odds of it happening are extremely high. If it was a significant problem ...

Re: isuzu mux 2016 (no DPF) valve adjust

With suitable sized socket extension just run the crank, the fan will try to turn but slip as it does why freewheeling. No problem there. You do have to turn the crank one full turn to get to the no 4 TDC so alternate valve can be adjusted. No glowplugs need removal but you will feel the compression...
