Re: Turbo issues DMAX/MUX

CN1980 So 3 turbo failures on the same vehicle all within the warranty period. The company would be intensely looking at why, if it is true, makes a good video for those who want to absorb it though. Yes, turbos can fail, but 3 on the same vehicle AND the owner is a mechanic? rings alarm bells for m...

Re: Turbo issues DMAX/MUX

Goody Perhaps it is less quality turbos at some stage not sure you can go on part numbers as there is, I think/have seen 11 different numbers for the same injectors, so hard to tell. The EGR system can have no effect on the failure as you suggest, because all carbon comes from the cylinder anyway an...

Re: Turbo issues DMAX/MUX

Makes you wonder if the quality of some oils used by some dealers isn't up to the mark. Generally the cheapest oil available seemingly with sufficient so called spec level on the drum. Maybe it breaks down sometimes. Just a possibility, seeing the failures are not everywhere and ONE dealer as mentio...

Re: Valve adjustment

Jack The point I was making was, it may not be as it seems. Only now you explain a, before and after process. You mean, each clearance was individually checked prior to, by changing various feeler strips to see "what it is" then only to require the 0.006 " or 0.15 feeler gauge in there to set it to ...

Re: Valve adjustment

Goody My experience at purchase and up to first "free" service check was that ALL pre delivery checks and the free check items were not touched. I can prove they checked the engine oil however. All else ignored. They assume ALL oil levels are correct from factory and do not check at pre deliver, OR ...

Re: Valve adjustment

goody If 10mm nut the screw inner would be Way too small to be an adjuster for a valve in these engines. My Hondas had small screws but they dealt with much smaller inertia valves and weight is important at elevated revs. I bought a 12mm long socket, ground top to hex and will fit ring spanner. It h...

I wouldn't adjust for caravan ball deflection because I sleep in it at night, not driving.

Re: Valve adjustment

I think you will find it is a 12mm locknut on each arm. 0.15mm cold. Measured between cam and roller. What is a jam nut?

Re: Valve adjustment

jackjames You mean to say, you removed the injector bleed lines, and cam cover, "twice" ( two instances) to check with a feeler gauge that the clearances you didn't know what they were beforehand were correct after Jax Tyres did the job?????? extremely hard to believe that. If you didn't do the abov...

Re: Front wheel hub regrease

If you really want to use a spring scale, the one you need is small and should be verified as being accurate prior to the job, otherwise you have no idea what preload being applied to the wheel bearing roller/cup/cone faces of the hub bearings. I would suggest a 5Kg scale so the likely reading is ap...
