How do I know when Dmax does a DPF regeneration?

Post by MtnMan »

Hi guys, I bought a 2019 SX Dmax in August 2022 with 75000km on it. It now has 83500kms on it.

As far as I know it has never done a dpf regeneration since I've owned it. Is there a dash light that illuminates or anything to indicate it is doing a burn? Can I force a manual burn?

I fitted a provent 200 can at 77000kms.
Turbo was replaced under warranty by previous owner. It had the 'evaporator pipe' job done too.

I don't own one but have considered opinion. Perhaps it does a burn without any alert to you. The burn is done by additional injection of fuel via the injectors on the exhaust stroke to cause increased burn temp in the DPF barrel when differential pressure happens in the DPF barrel and triggers the ECU to initiate it.. It may happen but perhaps it isn't noticed. If the vehicle does long hot running then the exhaust system DPF will be at elevated temps and likely hot enough to burn of in a normal sense.
If a reverse camera is ON all the time then any burn may be noticed as additional exhaust smoke during that time. Just a thought.

Yeah OK, I'm not sure whether it's supposed to tell me it's doing it via some light on the dash. The manual doesn't seem to reveal much

Only time a dash light will show is when a burn has been interrupted multiple times and you need to continue driving in 4th at 80kph to raise the EGT to complete the burn. Failure to do so will put it into limp mode and a tilt tray to the dealer for a forced burn.
Under normal circumstances, a burn will happen every 200-500 kms with the only indication being raised EGTs, up to 600 C
