Camping at 1500m right now on top of the Snowys and although it's nice here it's way too bloody cold for us, it's 5C inside the tent right now, I couldn't live through 2 months of this down there...

We are looking to doing it next March 2017 and think we need to do it now as we only want to stay for a max of two weeks, not taking the van. Cost for vehicle return and two pensioners is $508 over by day and back by night, taking the van is around $1800. So for a quick trip we will stay in motels or cabins.

Book months ahead for March Bruce as that's the time they're all vacating as it's starting to cool down so you'll get over but not back.

Made the booking go over on the 25th March back on the 6th April, just taking the D.Max and hope to stay in some old pubs.

Bruce, I think that's probably the best way to do it for a first visit and the d-max is perfect for the conditions. We're house sitting for friends in the Huon Valley at the moment, but did a driving holiday around the island a few years back. There was plenty of cheap accommodation and getting around the place without the stress of towing a van is the way to go.

Having said that, I would like to bring my van over at some stage for an extended look at the place. It's almost feasible (almost!) to park it in the middle somewhere and do day trips to all points of the compass.

The more time I spend here the more I love it. Our social life has gone through the roof compared to Perth!

Cheers

I think the best thing to do with tazzy is to build a huge concrete wall around the whole island.

Then, set up a piping system to feed all the water from the massive water tank it will become to pump water to the mainland.

Tazzy could simply be the big water tank for Australia.

No one would miss it, and the water would be great, ……...just thinking
