SVS Light Reset

Post by Mike C »

Hi,

Does anyone know how to reset the SVS light on a 2011 Dmax?

I thought I used my OBD2 reader (OBD Doctor) to do this in the past but couldn't find the function today. I checked the owners manual but couldn't find anything in there.

I use a paper logbook to record my vehicle's service history so the automatic warnings of upcoming services are not essential but staring at the spanner light each time I start the engine is aggravating.

Checked the Isuzu factory manual. On page 1972 I found this:

"The SVS lamp indicates that a non-emission related
fault (Type C) has occurred and vehicle service
required. The following is a list of the modes of
operation for the SVS lamp:
• The SVS lamp illuminates when the ignition switch
is turned ON, with the engine OFF. This is a bulb
test to ensure the SVS lamp is able to illuminate.
• The SVS lamp turns OFF after the engine is
started if a diagnostic fault is not present.
• The SVS lamp remains illuminated after the engine
is started if the ECM detects a fault. A DTC is
stored any time the ECM illuminates the SVS lamp
RTW76ESH001901 due to a non-emission related fault."

So the SVS light illuminating when the engine is initially switched on then turning off when the engine is running is normal.

Mike,
For at least the last 25 years vehicles have had a CHECK STATUS of globe/indicator light function as part of the initial turn on before starting. When key is released after start the lights turn off. All shown as you mention, so you can see dead ones, ie, the absence of, if they are not working, 'cos then you wouldn't know if it was trying to indicate, 'cos it's dead from the start.

Yep, I should have realized that.

I've been conditioned by my MB SLK- that has a spanner LCD in the odometer that only comes on when a service is due- but that's an integral section of odometer LCD not a separate light.
