Thanks for the confirmation of my sludge problem. If had known the pumps block so easily with sludge I would have tried boosting the voltage or back flushing to save having to remove the pump.
This might have saved the effort of finding/replacing the pump itself as well as sourcing replacement plastic clips to replace those broken is getting the guard liners on and off.

If you usea couple of drops of detergent and some methylated spirit and a small amount of cloudy ammonia with mostly water ,there will be no gunge or blockage from a sludge. Never had a problem or replaced a pump in any vehicle over last 45years. Simples!
