I have a 2014 DMax LS twin cab.
When I bought it (recently), the lid for this small compartment would not rise when you pressed the button to open it. I have F all fingernails so generally have to use my Leatherman to lift the lid enough to get my fingers in and complete the lift. I assume it is meant to lift?
Its the one on the top of and centre of the dash. I used the owners handbook terminology for my topic heading.
I want to know, can I prise this bin out of the dash from the top using my plastic auto trim tools? or is there some trick to getting it out?
I already have the instrument cluster out and will also remove the glovebox but I think I will need to get the actual bin out to fix it.
Also what isn't working? Is it a spring or something? Just so I know what I'm looking for and what to replace.
Can anyone help or point me to a tutorial? I did search but kept coming up with nothing relevant.

Ok, I found a YT clip where the guy is removing the car player.

its not quite the same as mine, but was close. He had to remove 2 x screws below the screen, my CD player doesn't have these, its just a press fit...so you can pull it out the same as you can for the air con panel.
But - and more importantly - at the very end of his clip you can see 2 x screws above the screen/CD player that hold the top tray in place.
Remove these 2x screws and the tray just lifts out.
When I removed my tray I could see coil springs on each hinge pivot. But the spring ends were not locked in place.
One end of the spring was still in place, I used Rapid Set and Powder to glue it and hopefully keep it located.
The other end was out of place, I reset it then drilled a very small hole in the plastic near it. Then I used a small piece of fine wire and pushed it through the hole then over the spring end before twisting and locking it in place.
Check the photo's out and you should be able to see what I've done.
My tray door now springs open and works like a new one.
