The compact Rallye's might be ok but as I've pointed out before you might have to reinforce the mounting bar because it's not stiff enough and the lights will vibrate and annoy you when they're on and yes you can get a light bar to sit below the bonnet line on the top bar.

The control box has to be hidden anyway as there's no room on top of the bar like an MCC or ARB it hugs the front of the car to tightly.

As for an animal strike and how well it'll stand up the AFN is made of a much higher quality high tensile steel than any of the other bars and will handle a hit much better, it also allows for a much lighter bar, up to 25kgs lighter than the 3 letter bars in fact and one thing this Dmax doesn't need is any extra weight on the front of it's light weight chassis.

The bars would be stronger because they don't use Chinese steel like 90% of the bullbars on the market.

So my AFN bar finally turned up (had it on order since April). Keen as to put it on.

But ive heard many mixed stories on people DIY fitting them. From missing/not having enough bolts, cr*p instructions etc.

Any pointers from guys wo have fitted them themselves?

There's plenty of advice on this forum about fitting these bars and although fiddly in places is easy enough, but the most important thing is to fit the lower sidewings before you fit the bar to the car, you would normally do this last but don't be fooled or be prepared to break your arm in another 2 places to get the bolts on.

Have been looking at the no loop afn bar, $1000 more than the Xrox no loop but think the afn looks better.
