I'd buy those for my Ironman bar. Then again I would snatch off the factory tie down points as a last resort too. Guess that's why I carry a shovel and trax offroad. Still waiting for that generic aftermarket option to appear, I suppose

Doing some work on the DMax the other day and took the following pic to illustrate why it is not a good idea to snatch off the factory tie down points, you don't have to be an engineer to see that the way the tie down point is attached to the chassis(circled) is far from ideal, there is no webbing or any kind of reinforcement and because it's pulling about 6-7" below the centre line of the chassis it's putting that weld under enormous stress and would be bending the chassis upwards....use with caution..

Cheers Dan. Interesting that aftermarket now exists off those.
If I am stuck a snatch off those would be absolute last resort for sure.
My train of thought for recovery tools is; track building > shovel > recovery tracks > rear hitch (> winch) > front "tow points" > hi-lift jack. (added winch but I still don't have a winch yet :( )
All depends on what the situation calls for.
I would still use them if I had too. And have used them for slow tow pull (not snatch) as car in front was diff hung in ruts.

I thought aftermarket uses the front of the chassis itself doesn't it? pretty much where virtually all bull bars mount to?

Oh Yes, the ARB does mount from up there, so should work as designed then, but bugger me it means I cant fit those with my bullbar.

Yeah I checked these out they're the same principle as the ARB one's, which means they use the same mounts as most of our bull bars making them impossible to fit unless you don't have a bar.

Bugger, cheers Danno.

Although I wonder why the item description says they could be fitted with most bull bars?
